May 02, 2009 · The IRS does not accept delivery confirmation as proof of mailing your documents. Note: it seems like many confused delivery confirmation with Certified mail. The IRS has clearly stated that delivery confirmation is not sufficient enough as proof of mailing. Delivery confirmation is merely a way for you to track the mail online.
