The National Space and Air Museum is perhaps the best way to kill a few hours before the flight out of the Dulles airport. It is about 15min by shuttle from the terminal and the entry is free. The two hangars of the museum showcase hundreds if not thousands of airplanes over the history of aviation.

There are several flight simulators, the airbus IMAX and all of the classic planes you would expect. The staff was excellent and very knowledgeable. The place was so clean everywhere it was like there is no traffic ever at the site.
