With the native animals and plants, the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum makes a great introduction to Southern Arizona. Make sure you check the schedule before you go, as the bird flyover is only at 10 am and 2 pm, and the animal show at 12:15 pm. Plan enough time; we were there for 5 hours and still didn't see everything.

It was founded in 1952, and it has a non-traditional way of showcasing plants, animals, and minerals.

As a young man, John visited the desert southwest and promptly realized that this was the place for him. He has worked as a wildlife biologist in the region for over 30 years and is grateful for the many countless hours spent enjoying the Sonoran Desert as a wildlife biologist and naturalist.
