In September 2016 SOAS opened the Paul Webley Wing of Senate House. The redevelopment of this iconic building enables SOAS, the world's leading institution for the languages, cultures and societies of Asia, Africa and the Middle East, to improve the student experience significantly by offering modern facilities.

The academic year at SOAS consists of three terms, the first two roughly 11 weeks long and the third usually eight weeks in length. The autumn and spring terms include a reading week. Opening hours. The School buildings are open from 8am to 9.30pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 5pm on Saturdays (after 1pm for staff and students only).

We demand that SOAS keeps the Main Building Refectory open and commits to no redundancies for either full time staff or those on zero hours contracts in the refectory and catering/hospitality services. Yesterday, some catering staff at SOAS were informed in one to one meetings with Elior UK management (the catering company) that the Main Building Refectory will be permanently closed from the 1st of August 2017. Zero-hours staff were not personally informed of this decision even though the plan will result in forced redundancies for them.
