The observation deck on the 35th floor is spectacular, especially on a clear day, but that absolute best part is the elevator ride up. It's manually operated by an attendant, it's almost 100 years old (but still safe!) and gorgeous.

Smith Tower is easily the most historic building in all of downtown Seattle. For a while it was the tallest building east of the Mississippi. Smith has taken great strides to keep its legacy strong, from the elevator operators to the grandiose lobby. IMPORTANT: As of June 2015, the observation deck is no longer open to the public.
