We launch boats on the hour every hour until 2:00 p.m. Tubing with Shenandoah River Adventures. Shenandoah tubing trips launch all day until 2:30 p.m. We ask all participants be out of the water by 5:00 p.m. unless a later time has been scheduled in advance. Extra charges may apply for all trips after 5:30 p.m.

This was the only tubing company we could find that could provide us with such a trip. They were so nice and easy-going. Provided us with their a funny driver, Frank, to pick this up at the end.

The trip itself (8 miles) took us about 4 hours, with several breaks to munch snacks. (Bring water!!) We hit the lottery as far as wildlife goes: 1 turtle sunning itself just downstream from the launch; 2 blue herons in-your-face close; and 2 bald-eagle sightings - also VERY close! (may have been the same eagle, no way to know.) Just awesome!

Went boating on the Shenango Reservoir in Mercer County PA about 1 1/2 hours north of Pittsburgh. This is a water control lake operated by the Army Corp of Engineers. It isn't commercially developed. There is a marina with boat docks and 3 public access boat ramps around the lake but there are virtually no houses.
