The future site of SCI Cresson began life as the Cresson Tuberculosis Sanatorium. The land where the sanatorium would sit was donated by steel-tycoon Andrew Carnegie in 1911, and, in 1913, the Cresson Tuberculosis Sanatorium was opened atop a ridge in the Allegheny Mountains , though construction wouldn’t be completed until 1916.
