Scargo Tower is the great place to take outstanding landscape photos during the day and to watch sunset at dusk. The site is not conducive to visits after dark as there are no street lights in the lot or in the tower stairwell, plus there was evidence of broken glass in the lot which was an indicator of probable underage drinking there after dark.

As of July 2019 the Scargo Tower is closed indefinitely. Apparently some F-head vandals snuck in one night and tried to tear the stairs out. In the process they knocked some rocks off the top.

Scargo Tower began as a tourist observatory in 1874. Made of wood, it was destroyed in a gale two years later. Rebuilt again of wood, it burned in 1900. the present cobblestone tower opened in 1901. The 30 foot high tower is located atop the highest hill in the mid-Cape. Indian legends tell of the making of both Scargo Hill and Scargo Lake.

This brick tower is not remarkable for its architecture; it does, however, have a great view. Located on top of the 160-foot (50-meter) Scargo Hill in Dennis (the highest point on the Cape), a clear day allows views of the Provincetown Monument and mainland Massachusetts.
