Throughout Sanibel, we offer eight miles of trails in preserves that are open from dawn to dusk. We have four miles of trails through interior wetlands along the Sanibel Slough at the Erick Lindblad Preserve, which is accessible through the parking lot at our main office at 3333 Sanibel-Captiva Rd. In 2020, the DEP analyzed data, including new data provided by SCCF (Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation), which indicate that the waters immediately surrounding both Sanibel and Captiva islands do not meet water quality standards. When waterbodies are identified as impaired, the DEP will develop a plan for reducing the pollutant of concern.
