San Gervasio is the largest and most famous Mayan Ruins site on Cozumel, dating back to 300-400 A.D when this urban center was dedicated to Ix Chel, the goddess of fertility, medicine, midwifery and weaving,. Mayan women used to make a pilgrimage from the mainland to visit the temples and many statues of Ix Chel found here.

San Gervasio is 11.7 miles (18.9 km) from the Cruise ship port and will take approximately 30 minutes. From our resort, Allegro Cozumel, it was 19 miles (30.7 km) and took around 38 minutes. Our taxi ride was $50 USD roundtrip and our driver waited for us. This was the least expensive way for us to get to and from the ruins.
