Just checked my bulb hours as I have had the Samsung 50 inch DLP for 3 years, reading was 10,790 hours. I turn it on in the morning and leave it on most of the day, maybe that is better than turning on and off many times. As related above after reaching OPTIONS I had to use right arrow button on remote to get the hours.

I've found conflicting reports about DLP projection TV lamp life. This site says 10,000 hours, but Consumer Reports had a recent issue that claimed a typical life of about 5,000 hours--close to what I got. This is the dirty little secret that the DLP vendors are sweeping under the rug.

Be sure to clean the digital board heat sink which houses the DLP chip. I had to remove the analog board on mine for access, but it's easy to get to. There should be a total of 3 fans. I'm getting about 8500 hrs. on lamps that are rated for 6000 hrs. and you won't believe how much brighter a new lamp is. I think mine is a HLN61 purchased in Aug 03.

This timer simply counts the number of hours the TV is on - it does not 'talk' to the bulb to know that it has, or is, reaching the end of its life. It should be reset each time the lamp is replaced. To reset the lamp hours, turn your TV off and with the remote press "Mute," "1," "8," "2" and "Power", then select the "Lamp hours" option in the "Options" menu and elect to reset the lamp hours.

As does mine. I tried his 826A and my 608A with lamp adapter from Discount-Merchant and picture quality and brightness is exactly the same. The lamp in his 826A enclosure from samsung parts is the SAME EXACT lamp as the on i recieved with my adapter from Discount-Merchant.com ----- It seems to me like Discount-Merchant knows what they are doing.
