Boeing and SilkAir celebrated today the delivery of the carrier’s first Next-Generation 737-800. The delivery also marked the start of the Singapore-based airline’s transition to an all-Boeing fleet. Over the coming years, Boeing will deliver a total of 23 737-800s and 31 737 MAX 8s to SilkAir.

The first Boeing 737-800 had been planned for pre-delivery maintenance in May 2019 and was being expected to enter into service with Scoot in June or July. The aircraft was welcomed with a water cannon salute and a celebratory breakfast for guests at the gate. The aircraft was delivered with a configuration capable of holding 156 passengers in a two cabin layout: 12 in Business Class and 144 in Economy Class.
