Skating is free for all ages for those who bring their own skates. Those without skates can rent them on-site for a fee, and helmets are mandatory for anyone under the age of 12. The Robson Square Ice Rink will operate Sunday to Thursday from 9 am to 9 pm, and Friday and Saturday between 9 am and 11 pm (holiday hours may vary).

The Robson Square ice rink is Vancouver’s only outdoor public skating rink, originally opened in 1982. It was closed in 1991, then renovated and reopened in 2009, ahead of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. Designed by Vancouver architect Arthur Erickson, Robson Square originally opened in two phases in 1978 and 1979.

Sundays to Thursdays the hours of operation are from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. On Fridays and Saturdays it’s open from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm. The exception is Christmas Day, when the rink closes at 5:00 pm. As of late November, 2021, there is not a set date as to when the skating season ends this winter.
