If changes at the source can occur after the initial copy but before the run hours have expired the MON and MOT options would catch those changes. Using RH with out those swtiches is usually just a one time only copy that will run between those hours. It is used to have a hard start/stop to prevent running into business hours or ther activities.

Sean, yeah, the batch files are not named "robocopy" I am just using that as an example. My server names are obfuscated as well. All, adding a second line with the word "exit" in the batch file did not change the situation. Yes, the robocopy completes after about 4 seconds. Files sync'ed and log created. Just shows as "running" in task ...

It runs at a half decent rate for approximately 10-12 hours hours, then speeds seem to drop right off and does not recover until it ends. The computer running it has very ow utiisation. As a test if I kick off another copy in parallel that job also suffers from the same slowness. when all jobs killed, if start again, it goes fast!

According to this article, Robocopy will only do its copying within the specified time frame. It will pause copying on reaching the end time. using the /RH:hhmm-hhmm switch. This tells Robocopy that it can only copy files between the hours/minutes of the first "hhmm" and the second "hhmm". There are, of course, three scenarios here.

(not continue to the next line of script) until the command completes. If you want to run multiple instances of robocopy.exe all started from a single shell script, you need to use the "start" command. Bill.

For example, to invoke robocopy but only allow it to run between the hours of 5PM and 9AM as defined by the system clock, run: > robocopy C:\src C:\dst /RH:1700-0900. You’ll see that if you invoke robocopy outside of those hours, it will tell you the current time and wait for the start time to run.

Not sure it's quite what you want, but robocopy does have directory monitoring funcitonality built-in. You could add /mon:1 which should monitor the source directory and re-run the copy when it detects one change (a new or changed file, for example).. However, a down-side of this perhaps is that using this method, robocopy won't exit - it will run until you kill it.

Using the "Run Hours" (/RH) option with Robocopy allows you to set when copies should be done rather than the time of the command as with Xcopy. This automation is most useful for performing daily backups or large batch jobs that require some time but do not require interaction. Robocopy has MONITORING support, Xcopy does not
