Feb 26, 2020 · The Riggs Library is managed by the Georgetown University President's office and serves as space for high-level, university-sponsored functions. It is not open for visitation or general use.

Riggs requests received by 12 noon will be available by 3 pm the same day if Riggs library is available. The President’s Office uses the Riggs Library extensively for University functions, and in some cases materials may not be available until 24 to 36 hours after a request is made.

From 1891 to 1970, the University's main library was the Riggs Memorial Library, located in the south tower of Healy Hall. The Library had been financed by E. Francis Riggs of the Washington banking firm as a memorial to his late father and to his brother who had attended Georgetown.
