Red Clay State Historic Park encompasses 263-acres of narrow valleys formerly used as cotton and pasture land. The park site was the last seat of Cherokee national government before the 1838 enforcement of the Indian Removal Act of 1830 by the U.S. military, which resulted in most of the Cherokee people in the area being forced to emigrate west.

Red Clay State Park is located in a rural area of Cleveland, TN very close to the GA border. It is easy to find with GPS but it isn’t particularly close to anything. It is a very nice park with important historical ties to the Cherokee Indians. Red Clay was used as the seat of Cherokee government after they were forced to leave New Echota, GA.

Red Clay Resort is one of the best days spent with my family this Summer! Brought back memories of swimming days when my sons were little boys. And we created new memories, our granddaughters loved it! So peaceful, relaxing, clean and family friendly! It's an old fashion swimming hole nearby.
