Jul 06, 2010 · I don't know that this is the right place for this but what happens when a postie does not get a signature for a recorded delivery. In fact does not even attempt to get a signature. How can it be signed for when you track it if it isn't. (does that make sense?)

Oct 10, 2014 · Hi, As far as I am aware the term ‘recorded delivery’ is not used now- being replaced by ‘signed for’ which as the name implies is a signed for service which is adequate proof normally that ‘someone’ has signed for the item at the delivery address.

Where I work Recorded Delivery (Signed For) is never, ever, signed for, it just comes in mixed with the rest of the first and second class post. For the comparatively small additional cost the Royal Mail receive for Signed-For many postmen don't consider it worth the bother of getting people to sign for these things.
