Traffic in Cairo is unlike anywhere else in the world and it is very probably to take an hour from the airport to the city. Pyramids are another 45 minute ride. IMHO, your biggest problem will not be the time it takes to SEE the Pyramids (doable in 2-21/2 hours) but the time it takes to GET to the Pyramids and back! Good luck, I hope you can do it.

Keep in mind, however, that pollution in Cairo often makes this impossible, to say nothing of the dust blowing in from the desert. The best time to try and see the pyramids is early in the morning or on the “rest day” of Saturday, when few cars are on the road.
