Powell's sells both new and used books, right next to each other on the same shelves, but they also sell many other things, like art, and art supplies, home decor, creative memorabilia , touristy souvenirs, ornamentals, and even socks and such. The staff is always helpful and friendly, and checkout is easy. Going to Powell's feels like going home.

This was my first time visiting a Powell's besides the downtown location and having a Powell's outpost in Portland's bohemian and funky SW area is just the thing. Clearly it's smaller than the one downtown but the book selection is just as good, the staff are just as friendly and BONUS, there's a great cafe located inside the bookstore.
