Point Lobos south of Carmel is a gorgeous state park with hiking and lovely beaches, but parking inside the park is limited. Garrapata park is gorgeous, too. Point Sur lighthouse tour is fascinating, but only by reservation on Saturdays i think at 10 am.

961 reviews of Point Lobos State Natural Reserve "Killer seascapes. Great for wildlife watching, relaxing hikes, and photo ops. You can drive more than in most parks, making it easy for everyone to enjoy the views. We had an amazing time. Minutes from Carmel and the Park Hyatt (Highlands Inn)."
