One of our favorite places to stop used to be Perry's Nut House. So naturally when we brought a friend with us on our last trip we talked up Perry's as a fun quirky place that sold nuts and really good fudge. We didn't know the parents had passed the business on to the children. The place was barely the same.

Perry's Nut House. A great stop for some tasty fudge, but Perry's Tropical Nut House is more than a tourist trap and fudge shop. It's a remnant, if just a small one, of the grand days of roadside curio cabinets that prospered in the 1930s and 1940s.

Our History in a Nutshell — Part I (Really Old Stuff) Perry’s Nut House has been referred to as a Maine institution since 1927 when I.L. Perry first opened his doors to sell pecans and other assorted nuts. Mr. Perry took advantage of a bumper crop of pecans in Georgia, bringing the taste of the South to the folks of “Downeast” Maine.
