Yeah, good stuff here. I am also curious about the amount of hours that a patent agent works. Do you usually work 9-5? Work weekends? Opportunities for OT? And say that you have 1800 billable hours, then does 1800 determine the number of hours you can work or does it just determine the number of hours that you can charge?

An agent will work the same or slightly less than a prosecution associate attorney. Which is about 8-10 hours working every weekday, and probably at least one weekend a month. And when I say 8-10 hours working, I mean actually working.

I think 2100 hours is a lot even for a litigator (that doesn't mean it isn't the norm -- I'm just not cut out for that). But for patent prosecution, budgets are much tighter as clients aren't willing to shell out as much cash for drafting a patent application.
