Pasticceria Natalina has changed its hours of operation (I stopped by at 11 a.m. today to find it closed). New hours are: Wednesday - Friday 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. Sunday 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. I called tonight and learned that these are "summer hours," but Nick said, "It's been working so well that it might become permanent."

Yesterday, Pasticceria Natalina closed after four years as both the most notorious and critically acclaimed bakery in Chicago. It takes some kind of special talent to pull both of those titles off ...

Pasticceria Natalina 5406 N. Clark 773-989-0662 It wasn’t a good day for marzipan. The previous night Natalie Zarzour had slept only two-and-a-half hours in the shop where she now stood building ...

Pasticceria Natalina's sheep's milk ricotta cannoli is filled on the spot and light as a feather. The filled cannoli in the case are only for display. Cannoli Natalie and Nick Zarzour are a terrific team, friendly, gracious, caring. Any pastry cooks out there looking for a job, seems Pasticceria Natalina is hiring.

I've visited Pasticceria Natalina a few times later in the afternoon when pickings were slim, but I'm also been there on a few Saturday evenings and had more than enough to choose from. I don't know Natalie and Nick well--have only chatted with them on my quick stops to buy treats--but I'm pretty sure what you describe isn't what they're going for.

Although I'm not really a fan of Pasticceria Natalina, I would like to point out that on my few visits there Nick and Natalie have been unfailingly pleasant. I mean, it's not like she's sitting in the store ranting at customers.

Pasticceria Natalina has received quite a bit of LTH love since it opened. My personal opinion is that it has deserved that love. However, it is now up for GNR renewal and, although lots of people have looked at the renewal thread, I'm the only person who has posted. That not only astonishes me, it disappoints and saddens me.
