I disabled apparmor, reinstalled ssmtp, purged postfix, fixed dependencies, and then reinstalled postfix. Now postfix automatically went through its post-install configuration no problem. Great. The problem now is that postfix is unable to create a lock file for messages from root.

Apr 28, 2018 · Only then the rules generated within the /etc/postfix/vmailbox will be respected resulting in no need to write to /var/mail/mail, but into the appropriate mailbox instead. I'm not closing this issue as the default docker behavior is technically broken unless you specify all of those ENVs mentioned above

Dec 23, 2010 · I have tried creating a new maste.lock file (w/ touch) to no avail. I am considering a Postfix uninstall/reinstall if I can't fix this issue. Any ideas or help would be appreciated, as the uninstall & reinstall may not be as simple as I need at this time.

May 16, 2007 · I'm also using virtual_minimum_uid = 103 and virtual_uid_maps = static:103 because of the postfix admin setup that uses user postfix to operate the mailboxes. However if you do not have this situation you can safely make the virtual_uid_maps = static:5000 and virtual_minimum_uid = 100 (based on your setup).
