May 04, 2017 · In Outlook, Tools, Preferences , the appointment reminder time is set to 30 minutes. When I enter a new appointment and save it, Outlook (wrongly) creates a reminder with reminder time of 18 hours. I can see this by re-opening the appointment. Thus I am often woken u in the middle of the night by my reminder!

However, you can increase or decrease the default reminder time. Note: Even when you change the default reminder time, you still have the choice to specify a custom reminder time for each calendar item that you create. Click the File tab. Click Options. Click Calendar. Under Calendar options, next to Default reminders, click a new time. Click OK.

Mar 24, 2013 · Looking through on my phone, I have found a few that show 18 hours. Confirmed that if I look at those on my calendar in Outlook they show 18 hours as well. But they are not all day meetings. And as soon as you uncheck all day meeting, the reminder should change from 18 hours to 15 minutes.

Apr 16, 2010 · Outlook default reminders, 18 hour madness. Microsoft in their infinite wisdom have two defaults for reminders on meeting requests, one is for appointments and one for all day events. The option in Tools -> Options is for appointments/meetings only and the defaults for all day events is hardcoded to 18 hours and can’t be changed.

This applies to all the existing appointments and meetings in the calendar. Save this setting for future appointments and meetings. Click File > Options > Calendar.. Under Calendar options, select or clear Default reminders.. Set the default amount of time at which you want to receive reminders before new calendar items (for example, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, etc.).
