Calling the IRS is certainly can be grueling. Hold times can typically run up to an hour. The IRS "Courtesy Disconnect" If the announcement tells you that your hold time will be greater than an hour and a half, let me do you a favor --- hang up. You're going to be way better off trying again later and saving yourself time and sanity. Why?

Some guests are reporting having to redial hundreds of times (hearing a busy signal or “all circuits are busy” message) before getting placed into a hold queue. Here at DFB, I think our record to get placed into a hold queue is around 1 full hour of JUST redialing. (That’s followed by 4 hours of hold time.)

on hold.... for 28 hours and counting over 3 days. As angry, and frustrated as I am, it's so hard to really be angry at any of the CMs I've dealt with on the phone b/c they have ALL been AMAZING! They are genuinely trying to help, no matter what the situation. It's a shame they are not being given the information they need to help people.
