When I worked as a cook I routinely punched out at 39.9 or 40.0. Unsurprisingly, politicians, who for the most part never worked an “entry level” part time job in their lives forgot the number one rule of economics.

UPDATE: Staples made it worse! At the beginning of this year they changed their policy to limit part-time employee hours to 23 scheduled, and no more than 25 hours a week! Their previous policy of no more than 25 hours scheduled and 30 hours working per week was at least passable, but their new policy is really hurting the part-time employees.
