Like most countries in Europe, Daylight Saving Time is observed in Norway. In spring the time shifts forward by 1 hour, putting it 2 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+2). Of course, if you are in the UK, you will be moving from GMT to British Summer Time (BST) at roughly the same time, so Norway would remain one hour ahead of the UK (BST +1).

The sun never sets for months at a time during the long Scandinavian summer. Visitors to northern Norway during the winter are obsessed with hunting for the northern lights, but in the summer the focus turns to the midnight sun. For residents of Arctic towns and villages, the midnight sun is no tourist attraction, it is a simple fact of life!

I can't give any specifics for Norway, but if you live near the equator, then your day/night will be approximately 12 hours year around. The further north one is, then one gets longer days during the summer and shorter days during the winter. A portion of Norway extends above the Arctic circle which would have 24 hour darkness during part of the winter, and 24 hour daylight during part of the summer.

Oslo, the capital city of Norway, situated in the southeast of the country, has 240 hours of actual sunshine (as opposed to daylight hours) in June and 30 hours in December. Northern Norway is located in the Land of the Midnight Sun and experiences about four months of continuous daylight. However, some of those hours are more like twilight than bright sunshine.

During this period of time, the sun doesn't rise above the horizon, resulting in more than 24 hours of night. How dark it gets during this period will also depend on how close you are to the Poles. That means that you won't necessarily have 24 hours of pitch black (though most of the day might be) but there are several hours with blue hour which can result in a magnificent, arctic light.
