No Airlock Activity 24-48 Hours After Yeast Pitch. If you’ve pitched your yeast and it’s been over 24 hours, but don’t see any airlock activity, you may be thinking that fermentation isn't happening. However there could be a different problem. No Seal / Bad Seal: This typically happens in buckets where the lid isn’t secured tightly on ...

The next day, approximately 24 hours after pitching, sealing, and storing, again no bubbling. After my most recent review of the situation this morning (approximately 39 hours after storing) nothing has changed. After inspecting to make sure of a tight seal, I pushed down gently on the lid which caused the airlock to bubble for about 10 seconds ...

After 8-10 hours, there was active fermentation(!) and lots of signs of spitting from the airlock literally dripping down the wall RedAle_During-Fermentation.png 1536x1026 1.65 MB I fought off my initial desire to pull off the airlock and clean it...

I brewed a Brewers Best India Black Ale yesterday afternoon. 12 hours have passed since pitching my yeast and there is absolutely not activity in the carboy. Is it possible that I shocked my yeast when I rehydrated? The water that I used to rehydrate this dry yeast was probably around 90 degrees, then pitched into wort that was between 60-70.

Air lock doesn't matter. Weather systems moving in and out can impact what you see. A lot of ales I do after 36-48hrs they will drop off to about nothing but all I really do is make sure there is liquid in the air lock and keep an eye on temp and my calendar. Being in the 80F room was most likely too warm but you will still get beer.

I sealed the lid of my bucket about 40 hours ago, and I have had no airlock activity. I pitched my yeast at 73 degrees after pouring the wort aggressively from the brew pot into the fermenting bucket a couple of times. I would think it would have been very oxygenated. I used a packet of Wyeast that had an activation pouch in it.

This is my first homebrew, so I'm totally in the dark as to what to expect. However, I was told by my LHS that I should see a lot of fermentation activity after around 4-12 hours. The brew itself is an Irish stout using Wyeast Irish Ale strain, I made sure to let the bag swell before pitching so I'm fairly sure that the yeast was viable.

If there is no activity after 18-24 hours make sure that the lid and airlock are tight. If both are tight then gently swirl the bucket/carboy- just enough to mix everything together. Check back after 12 hours. If there is still no activity then add more yeast from a new yeast starter. After adding more yeast check back after 18-48 hours and ...
