Feb 25, 2021 at 12:05 PM. Hi Mommas! My baby is 4 weeks old in 3 days and has consistently been sleeping for 4.5-5 hour stretch one time at night (between 1 and 5/6:00 am) for the past three days. My LG slept 5 hours the night after she was born and has done so ever since, maybe even more so now, she can go upto 7hours in the night now (she is now 10weeks and 4days old) As long as they are eating enough in the day, are having food before and after sleep, and are putting on healthy weight, i dont see a problem.

Sleep typically happens in spurts during the day and at night, sometimes lasting only an hour or two at a time. Older babies 4 to 12 months: 12 to 16 hours of sleep within a 24-hour period is typical. At least two to three hours of those hours should be daytime naps.

My daughter slept like this straight out of the hospital. I didn’t wake her but mentioned to the doctor at her appt, who said one 5-6 hour stretch in a 24 hour period was fine. My daughter slept 8 hours by 8 weeks and 12 hours by 12 weeks. She’s 1 now, still a great sleeper, and in the 90th percentile for height and 97th for weight. 336 ...

So then that means baby needs to eat every 1 hr 45 minutes which may make your days horrible if baby is a long nurser. We recommend for that reason to go 2-3 hours during the day and one 4-5 hour sleep at night. But if weight gain is fine, and weight gain stays fine with the extra sleep, and days aren't too hectic, sleep while you can!
