This state park has diverse ecosystems within a relatively small geographic area. The Nescopeck Creek runs through the park and is excellent for fishing. On this visit we spotted trout, white catfish and carp in the creek. In previous visits we have seen snapping turtles near Lake Francis and loads of wildlife throughout the park.

Nescopeck State Park is another park with great forest, hiking trails, and waterways. Many nice trails to walk. The visitor center is small, but has some great exhibits about the plants and animals in the area. Visitor center staff was consistently knowledgeable and helpful, but check in advance when the center is open since hours are variable.

Very pretty State Park in Pennsylvania where we stopped on our most recent trip across the state coming back from holiday in Cape May - which was amazing. It's a beautiful place but I have to deduct stars because they allow hunting and I just don't consider that to be normal or ethical.

The 3,550-acre Nescopeck State Park, located between Wilkes-Barre and Hazleton is open year-round. Most of the park’s trails are level and easy for walking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing.

Biking is prohibited on all trails at Nescopeck State Park, but is permitted at nearby Lehigh Gorge State Park on the rail-trail. The letter by the trail names matches the letter on the park map. A -- Lupine Loop. 0.7 mile, more difficult hiking. This trail travels through the woods and follows a stretch of the Nescopeck Creek.
