Religion aside (they really don't push it), the history of the LDS in Nauvoo is very interesting and provides a wonderful perspective about the settling of the American West. Worth the visit. This is mostly free - there may be a couple buildings that you need to pay a small amount to get into. Even after hours, it's worth a drive or walk through.
