We really enjoyed our experience at the Myvatn Nature Baths. This facility was the best one of all of the larger pools in the country. Bring your own towel or they charge you to use theirs. The facilities were impeccably maintained. There was a 50/50 mix of tourists and natives, which was a nice change!

MYVATN NATURE BATHS. Even though Myvatn Nature Baths is a human-made lagoon, the location in an almost barren land, blue water rich on silica and other minerals, pleasantly hot water, and newly reconstructed facilities such as sauna, all of that work great together, and the visit exceeded our expectations.

The Mývatn Nature Baths are located near to the geothermal area of Hverir and Námaskarð, as well as the delicate nature reserve of Lake Mývatn. The intensely blue colour of the water resembles that of a somewhat better known lagoon, while the Mývatn Nature Baths have the advantage of an idyllic panorama and smaller crowds.
