Working 16 hours (2 Posts) Add message | Report. Wildflowe Sun 28-Apr-19 13:00:49. Hi there, I'm a single Mum to a 2 and a 3 year old. I've always worked full time before I had my little ones but was forced into this position when my ex developed a serious drinking problem and I had to go it alone.

If you work 16 hrs or more you will be entitled to child tax credit, working tax credit. Also help with housing benefit and council tax benefit. Thanks, dont need housing but council tax ive never paid as ive been a student for years so no idea how much that is anyway. 0 like Sue B (208) 13/08/2014 at 9:48 am In answer to Angela (29)

Lone parents are generally better off working 16 hours or more a week, in fact i thought you had to be trying to do at least 16 hours a week once your child is at school ( could be wrong there ). It's not a lot of hours really especially if it's a term time job. Working more than 16 hours means you can come off Income support. 0 like
