OPENING HOURS. Monte Alban site is open from 8 AM to 5 PM, so you have plenty of time to visit the ruins throughout the day. Usually, Mexican citizens have free entry to tourist attractions on Sunday, but we don't think Monte Alban is that popular that it should affect your visit.

Monte Alban is easily accessed from Oaxaca city for a MXP200 cab ride. Allow 2 to 3 hours. Admission fee in Jan 17 was MXP70 per person. The grounds are very well signposted in English - the signs do a good job explaining the history and culture. Museum is decent but the grounds are what make this archeological monument.
