The Mondeaux Dam Lodge remains closed as restoration of this historic Wisconsin treasure continues. Mondeaux Dam Lodge is a key recreational anchor. The lodge was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and includes a restaurant building, caretaker’s residence and garage. It is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Picnic Point is a tent-only campground that’s near the Mondeaux Dam Recreation Area on the Medford-Park Falls Ranger District. Each of the four individual campsites has a fire ring and picnic table. There’s a vault toilet at the campground. Water is available at the nearby glacial spring on Forest Road 1563/Park Road.

Hoover Dam is 724.6 feet high and weighs 6,600,000 tons. The water pressure at the base of the dam is 45,000 pounds per square foot. The sculptures at the dam were created by Oskar J. W. This is a military installation so photos are permitted outside and on the bridge of the dam, however neither cameras nor cell use are permitted inside. There is a 160 ft elevator ride down into the Dam and you walk through drift-like tunnels. May not be the best for those with claustrophobia issues.
