Answered 2 May 2019. Not good. Can be flexible with some employees but not others. Some people were able to even adjust there holiday hours by working overtime during the weeks thus only putting in afew holiday hours meaning in some ways they would always have holiday hours to use at other times, wasn’t the case for everyone.

The hours can be very long and the next day very short. It depends on what the Service Users need each day. It can be very rewarding though. Unlike other care companies Mencap seem to value the Service Users and staff. The training is excellent and much much more comprehensive than any other Care Company in my experience.

Only having to look for another job as I've had to relocate and no transfer available. Pros. Support from manager/colleagues, every day is different, meeting lots of new people. Cons. long hours, never quite switch off as service runs 24/7, hard to progress within company unless a role comes up.
