It's good to allot two to three hours to see all of Masada- visiting the tiers of the North Palace are challenging for some people (steep stairs along the side of the mountain and beautiful vistas.) Some areas require more explanation (water collection and cisterns, the Roman ramp, the dovecotes, multiple palaces, etc) and some time just to gape at the amazing scenery is due.

Masada is open daily on weekdays, holidays and Shabbat. It opens at 8 a.m. every day and closes at 4 in the winter and 5 in the summer. Last entry is one hour before closing. The last cable car is 15 minutes before closing. As mentioned above the snake path as well as the Roman ramp are open from one hour before sunrise.
