The historic park is open for day use from 8 AM until 8 PM. The Visitors Center, Museum and the historic buildings are closed but there is much to see and do in the park. On the day we visited, the park was uncrowded. There were so many picnic tables available and we had our picnic lunch overlooking the American River.

The cost to enter the park is $9 for out of state cars, which includes so much to see and do! There is sand volleyball, an outdoor pool, a nice park, a nature center, and many gorgeous hiking trails. We hiked trails 3, 5, 9, and 10. We also went a tad bit on 4, but just to see the Coal Mine.
