The place has great hours, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the summer months. It seems like there's somebody here actually staffing the place during some of those hours, but not always. Either way, it was a really fun afternoon and a place we wish we'd discovered a lot sooner.

Area Hours. From April 1 - October 31, the area is open from 6 am - 9 pm. From November 1 - March 31, the area is open from 9 am - 6 pm. Those in the area outside of those times are trespassing, unless registered to camp. Roads are not maintained outside of park hours. Prohibited Acts

Iowa Raptor Project. July 30 at 7:34 AM ·. During these hot summer days we keep Zorro, our Gyrfalcon, nice and cool with ice blocks and a fan. During the hottest days we keep Zorro inside the IRP building. Gyrfalcons are the largest of all falcons. They nest and breed in circumpolar regions.
