Jul 11, 2010 · All the features on the SBS box work, except outbound email, the problem message here is “SMTP: message routed and queued for remote delivery”, but delivery never occurs. I need help configuring the server to allow outgoing email. Again, the problem is not receiving email, but sending it. Any and all help is very much appreciated.

Oct 26, 2011 · The last status of the unsent messages on the server is: "Message routed and queued for remote delivery". My guess is that Exchange is having problems contacting other servers over SMTP (or maybe it's not even trying?). I can not see any error/warning messages related to the Exchange in the EventViewer.

Jul 30, 2013 · luckily we were able to restore the exchange server and it worked fine until this morning. all of a sudden all inbound messages started getting stuck in the "local delivery" queue. all outbound mail seems to pass through without a problem.
