    I think for a single parent working the best hours are 16-24 as you get working tax credit (which is the same as IS or JSA give or take a few quid) you still get your child tax credits. You do still get HB and CTB but have some deducted cos of working but im sure you still work out better off rather than going to work for 10 hours for 20quid xxx

    I just don't get why they're saying 25 and not 16 like they have to other people who are lone parents my age. It’s not your age that is the deciding factor. It’s your child’s age. If your youngest child is 4, then you only need to work 16 hours but you will be expected to work 25 from when s/he turns 5.
