The only way you can get 7-9 hours of power out of your entry-level 3 cell, 31Wh battery is if you boot into Windows with no programs open, no internet connection, no programs running in the background and brightness turned all the way down. For normal use, 2-3 hours is decent. 4-5 hours is amazing for the higher-end models.
