Na'alapa Stables on Kahua Ranch is on 12,000 gorgeous acres with amazing views from 3,000 feet elevation on Hawai'i Island. The drive from Hilo to North Kohala is about two hours and much closer if you flew into Kona but we were visiting friends in Hilo (Mahalo for the lift Glenn).

The horses were well-trained and individually suited (as best they could be) for each rider's size and level of experience. The views were breathtaking, even though the waterfalls were a little dry due to the drought. We saw a horse with her foal and a wild pig-- cool!

Advertised as2.5 hr ride for ~$85 or so/person. Be aware that on-horse time is about 1.5hrs. Pick-up is at the art-house store above the valley, and Na'alapa picks up scheduled riders in a 4-wheel drive van to drive you down the scary hill to the stable. If you want to ride in rain-forest setting, this is it.
