We were in Glennallen, Alaska and it was recommended that we go to McCarthy and Kennecott to see the Kennecott copper mine. We were also advised not to drive but to take the shuttle instead. We contacted the Kennecott Shuttle and they picked us up at the campgrounds about 7 am with a 14 passenger van. The drive to McCarthy took four hours.

Schedules can vary with the season; during the peak shuttle season there are 20 departures a day from the River and 20 departures a day from Mainstreet Kennicott, with the first shuttle leaving the River (east side of the footbridge) at 9:00 AM with the last shuttle at 6:30 PM. Plan to arrive an hour ahead of the day’s last shuttle!

The shuttle didn't run regularly but were lucky enough the shuttle driver we took from Chitina arranged with shuttle driver in McCarthy, we didn't have to wait so long During the season, time schedule for shuttle it should be posted on the board in McCarthy and in Kennecott. So, it is easy for everyone to know when is the next shuttle departed.
