Glasshouse furnace ruins . At "glass point" near Jamestown, the glass furnaces were re-discovered and excavated in 1948. Today, in a reconstructed, interpretive facility, glassblowing is again performed at Jamestown. Modern artisans, in reproductive clothing, produce common glass objects very much as they must have done almost 400 years ago.

If you do go to the Jamestown Settlement, the glass house is a must see!! There isn't really a sign for the entrance but you can go into any door that will open, it may look closed but I believe it's open till 5pm most days! They have people in there actually blowing glass so it's important to be respectful of them, and it's amazing to watch!!

The Glasshouse hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The whole national park site is closed on Thanksgiving Day, December 25th and January 1st. There is a fee that will get you into all parts of Jamestown and Yorktown; however, the Glasshouse is off the main driveway up to the Historic Jamestowne Visitor Center and is separate from the main part of the grounds.
