Oct 12, 2008 · your employer has no legal obligation to pay you for jury service unless it's a contractual entitlement. essentially you would normally be taking unpaid leave from your employment and claiming loss of earnings from the court. the claimable sum is capped, although the cap increases significantly after two weeks or service (ie. for long cases)

Apr 24, 2010 · If the Courts really wanted you to attend then surely they would send out recorded delivery mail or some type of a confirmation mail rather than send it via USPS. Surely you could just tell the courts that you never received the summons if they call you and there's no way they could prove you received it in the mail.

May 10, 2016 · I did jury service a year or two ago. About 50 of us arrived at 10am on a Monday, sat about, then got sent home in the afternoon. Similar things happened for a few days, then they finally got round to selecting a jury on the Thursday. I ended up on the jury but fortunately the trial wasn't very long and we were done by the Friday afternoon.

Firstly recorded delivery has not existed for some years, the equivalent modern service is signed for. There is no typical letter sent signed for and I can't see anyway of providing the information you need for reassurance. However, most nasty things like speeding tickets etc come via normal mail as it is not standard for DVLA to use signed for.

We have sent out speeding notices recorded delivery from my police force although we don't do it currently so I'm sure some police forces may send out things like that recorded delivery.
