Delaying redelivery can often be useful in the case that clients regularly fail or rollback. Without a delayed redelivery, the system can get into a "thrashing" state, with delivery being attempted, the client rolling back, and delivery being re-attempted ad infinitum in quick succession, consuming valuable CPU and network resources.

Nov 25, 2006 · I'm trying to use RedeliveryLimit in JBoss 3.2.5. The RedeliveryDelay works as expected, however my message is redelivered past my redeliverylimit. My DLQ does exist, but no messages get sent there. Any suggestions? Below is a header dump from listMessages(). As you can see count > limit. Any suggestions?

The problem I am trying to fix is set a message redelivery limit. Because the message deleivery does not stop. Goes over 300 times until I delete the entire deployment. I have done set message redelivery in JBOSS, but I am new to weblogic, and I want to set redelivery limit for this queue alone.

The MaxDepth is an upper limit to the backlog of messages that can exist for a destination. If exceeded, attempts to add new messages will result in a org.jboss.mq.DestinationFullException.
https://docs.oracle.com/middleware/12212/wls/WLACH/pagehelp/JMSjmsdestinationsjmsqueueredeliverytitle.html
The default value (-1) specifies that the destination will not override the message sender's redelivery limit setting. Note: WebLogic Server supports the JMSXDeliveryCount message property, which specifies the number of message delivery attempts, where the first attempt is 1, the next attempt is 2, and so on.
