When a prescriber writes QID, that also means 4 times in the day, the dosing isn’t as strict. Hospitals might dose QID as 8 am, 1 pm, 5 pm and 9 pm.

Dec 05, 2014 · One place I worked had "standard" med times as decried about, so that a QID med was given every 6 hours, BID med every 12, etc. One exception--they had "BID diuretic dose," which was 0800 and 1700. That way you did not have to give someone lasix as they were getting into bed.
