Baby awake 12+ hours?!? NikNut. Posted 3/8/21. How is it possible for a newborn to be awake for so long? I'm really starting to feel it now and today, I feel like I'm not coping at all. I don't get how you are claiming she was awake for 12 hours if she took 3 naps in that period. Lots of infants take short naps. I agree with others that it's probably growth spurt related. At this age baby's schedule will change constantly, you have to try to relax and go with the flow.

As they reach 8-9 months, 2h 45min – 3 hours might be more manageable, and by 12 months your baby could be managing an awake time of 3.5 – 4 hours in between their naps.

Let’s take a little walk through the months and look at all the change happening with bedtimes. From 0-4 months, your baby is sleeping on and off throughout the day and night and isn’t even awake for more than about 1-1.75 hours at a time. You have no set schedule. What you have is a flexible routine of eating, sleeping, and pooping.
